An exceptional antique cutlery set by Levesley Brothers, Sheffield, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, circa 1890s–early 1900s.

The set comprises 28 pieces, combining finely engraved silver-plated metal with natural mother-of-pearl handles. Their lustrous surface displays beautiful shades of ivory and silver, with subtle iridescent tones. The metalwork is adorned with delicate scrolling foliage and intricate ornamental details.

The set is particularly impressive for its completeness, comprising a six-person table setting alongside four substantial serving pieces:

• 6 dessert knives

• 6 dessert forks

• large fish serving knife

• large fish serving fork

• bread or general-purpose serving knife

• additional serving fork for cold dishes

The condition is outstanding. The four serving pieces and all twelve dessert utensils appear unused. The table knives and forks are also beautifully preserved, with only minimal signs of age.

The mother-of-pearl handles retain their beautiful natural lustre. The set is housed in its original two-tier wooden case, finished with a deep blue interior lining that remains remarkably clean. The original key is also present, and the lock is in working order.
