£0.00
Sheffield, England — late 19th century
An impressive antique silver-plated covered tureen by James Dixon & Sons of Sheffield, distinguished by its substantial proportions, elegant pedestal form and beautifully preserved mirror-bright finish.
The domed lid is finished with a delicate beaded border and crowned by an exceptionally detailed sculptural goat finial, finely modelled down to the horns, face and texture of the coat. Gracefully curved twin handles complete the classical Victorian form.
With a generous capacity of approximately 3 litres, this is both a functional serving piece and a striking centrepiece for a traditional or contemporary table.
