WEDGWOOD — RARE BLACK JASPERWARE ROYAL WEDDING JUG, 1981

Price
£125.00

A rare Wedgwood commemorative jug, produced to mark the 1981 Royal Wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer.

Crafted in distinctive black Jasperware, the jug is decorated with contrasting terracotta and white applied reliefs. Portrait medallions of Charles and Diana are framed by classical laurel motifs, while the upper border is enriched with finely modelled vine and grape decoration.

A particularly unusual feature is the silver-plated hinged lid and fitting, giving this traditional Wedgwood form the character of a commemorative tankard.

Wedgwood commemorative pieces celebrating the British Royal Family form a distinct field of collecting, with unusual forms such as this Jasperware jug encountered far less frequently than the more familiar commemorative plates and boxes.

Height: 15 cm

Condition: Excellent, with no chips, cracks or losses; all elements are complete and beautifully preserved.
