£345.00

Exceptional Victorian Cabaret Set for Four | England, c. 1880

An exceptionally rare antique cabaret set for 4 people by the renowned English manufacturer Royal Crown Derby, made during the late Victorian period, around 1880.

A magnificent example of English porcelain featuring the historic Peacock Blue pattern — a rich cobalt-blue composition with exotic birds set among refined floral ornaments. Delicate gilding, sculptural handles, elegant finials, and a luxurious serving tray create an exceptionally expressive ensemble.

A cabaret set is a special type of miniature nineteenth-century service intended for the refined serving of tea, coffee, or hot chocolate in a drawing room or boudoir. Such sets were distinguished by their exquisite craftsmanship and represented objects of luxury in the Victorian home.

Set for four:

• Large serving tray with handles

• Teapot approx. 850 ml

• Lidded sugar bowl

• Small lidded jug for hot milk

• 4 miniature cups with saucers, each holding approximately 120 ml

Condition: Antique condition with restorations. One section of a handle has been repaired, the sugar bowl lid has been restored, and there is a small, barely noticeable chip to the tip of the spout, mainly on the inner side. Some natural wear to the gilding is present. The serving tray has survived in exceptionally beautiful condition, with virtually no visible scratches.

Collectible value: An exceptionally rare surviving ensemble from the early Derby Crown period, of significant interest to collectors of Victorian porcelain. A similar set is held in the specialised British archive Lovers of Blue & White and is dated to approximately 1880.
