A COLLECTABLE DECORATIVE ITEM MADE OF BONE CHINA
£375.00
Here is a rare decorative piece from the legendary English firm Wedgwood—a sculptural Nautilus shell crafted from snow-white bone china with a pearlescent lustre glaze, mounted on a base featuring a relief design of coral.
The Nautilus Lustre series was created by Wedgwood as an interior art object, inspired by natural forms and a maritime theme. Such items were not mass-produced and were released in limited editions in the late 20th century (approximately the 1990s), primarily for collectors and prestigious interiors.
The shape of the shell is executed with high sculptural precision: undulating edges, natural asymmetry and the soft pearlescent sheen of the inner surface create the effect of a ‘living’ object. Combined with the minimalist base, the piece is perceived as a fully-fledged interior sculpture.
The Nautilus Lustre series is among Wedgwood’s most aesthetically sought-after decorative objects.
