ERNST WAHLISS JUGENDSTIL EWER

Price
£245.00

Turn-Wien, Austria-Hungary | Circa 1898–1905

A rare and highly collectible ewer produced by the celebrated Viennese manufactory Ernst Wahliss, one of the leading names of the Austrian Jugendstil movement at the turn of the twentieth century.

Elegantly proportioned and exceptionally decorative, the piece is distinguished by its fully pierced sculptural handle, delicately reticulated spout, warm ivory matte glaze, and finely hand-painted decoration enriched with subtle gilt accents. Every element reflects the refined craftsmanship and artistic vision that made Ernst Wahliss one of the foremost ceramic manufacturers of the Art Nouveau period.

The ewer has been preserved in outstanding collector's condition, free from chips, cracks, or restoration. Minor irregularities within the openwork handle are original manufacturing characteristics of this entirely hand-crafted piece and were gilded during production, confirming their authenticity.

Standing 26 cm (10.2 inches) high, with a body diameter of approximately 21–22 cm (8.3–8.7 inches), this is an exceptional example of Viennese decorative ceramics from the golden age of Austrian Art Nouveau, equally appealing to collectors and admirers of period design.
