ANTIQUE ENGLISH CRYSTAL BISCUIT BARREL WITH SILVER-PLATED MOUNT

Price
£265.00

England | Late 19th – Early 20th Century (c. 1895–1915)

Combining finely hand-cut crystal with an elegant silver-plated mount, this antique biscuit barrel is a fine example of English tableware from the turn of the twentieth century. The substantial crystal body is decorated with exceptionally fine and evenly cut facets that enhance its brilliance and showcase the exceptional clarity of the crystal.

The gracefully shaped silver-plated mount and generously proportioned carrying handles reflect the transition from the late Victorian style to the emerging Art Nouveau movement, giving the piece its distinctive character. The domed lid is crowned with a finely modelled pinecone finial — a traditional symbol of prosperity, hospitality and abundance in late nineteenth-century English decorative arts.

A remarkably well-preserved example, presented in excellent antique condition, free from restoration or damage, with only minimal signs of age.
